ServicesCraniosacral TherapyA subtle, but powerful hands on therapy that releases restrictions caused by trauma to restore balance in the craniosacral system. This system is made up of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord and extends from the bones of the skull, face and mouth (the cranium) down to the tailbone (sacrum). More... Massage TherapyMassage therapy focuses on deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue of the body
and uses slower deeper massage techniques concentrated on areas of tension and pain. What to ExpectFor the first time only please arrive 10 – 15 minutes early to go over your new client form (download pdf version). For regular visits arrive a few minutes early so that you can begin to relax and get ready for your session. (Tea, water and snacks are available in the waiting room. I may even share some chocolate with you.) We’ll spend some time checking in to what you need and want from your massage. Sometimes after your massage I will show you stretches or exercises, please allow a few extra minutes just in case. For a full body massage, most people undress fully, however, if you prefer you may leave on underwear. You will always be covered by a sheet or blanket except for the area being worked on. When CranioSacral therapy is received separately from massage you will be fully clothed, comfortable clothing is best. Therapeutic massage works on adhesions and trigger points and can sometimes be a little uncomfortable. Please know that you are in control of your session. I will always listen to you and work to the level of your comfort making sure that your muscles are warmed fully before starting to work deeper. I will sometimes guide your breathing, as there is a natural tendency for the breath to be held when tight muscles are released. You may wish to talk during your session or remain silent. Either way is fine though I think I give a better more focused massage with limited conversation. |
