The Craniosacral System
- Is a body system made up of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord
- Extends from the bones of the skull, face and mouth (the cranium) down to the tailbone (sacrum)
- Has an inherent wave-like pulse as cerebrospinal fluid moves in the system. The balance and flow of this rhythm is considered essential to good health
- Restrictions to the flow of cerebrospinal fluid can be caused by trauma, both physical and emotional, or by habitual holding patterns in the body due to stress and disease
